Originally
from northern Wisconsin, Cindy moved to New Hampshire in 1997,
a state she is pleased to call home. Prior to moving to New
Hampshire, Cindy earned her Ph.D. in American Studies from
The University of Iowa (1988). While earning her doctorate,
she taught undergraduate literature, American studies, and
rhetoric courses at The University of Iowa, and later taught
literature, composition, and/or humanities courses at SUNY-Oswego,
Castelton College, and Boston University's College of General
Studies.
Cindy's move to New Hampshire also marked her shift from teaching
into higher education administration at Granite State College
where she worked for ten years. In 2007, Cindy returned to
the classroom as both a teacher and as a student. She returned
to Granite State College to teach her favorite subject, literature,
and enrolled in Southern New Hampshire University's M.F.A.
in Creative Nonfiction program, which she completed in 2009.
Cindy teaches Survey of American Literature, Multicultural
Perspectives through Literature, Readings in World Literature,
Women's Literature, Short Fiction, and Autobiography as Literature.
During off hours, Cindy enjoys reading, writing, cooking,
the great outdoors, and spending time with her husband, Mark,
who is teaching her about bee keeping and gardening.
