Welcome to our class! I am delighted to go on this learning adventure with you.
You will work hard in this class, but upon completion, I am confident that you will
be on your way to a very rewarding experience.
I am a native of the state
of New Hampshire and grew up along the seacoast. A life change drew me to the mountains
of our state in 1983. My doctoral degree in education is focused on instruction
and critical thinking. At the university, I completed many research projects that
involved several intense studies on how adults learn. Prior to this venture I received
my Masters in Adult Learning and Human Relations. I also hold a degree in Behavioral
Science, which actually was the catalyst for my new direction in life.
I believe it is possible to
empower students by building trust in the classroom environment. Therefore, I create
a learning process within the course that signifies my inner feelings of caring
for each of my students. My initial beliefs about students include: understanding
their needs, keeping them motivated with class activities, and setting goals.
I am married and have a 17
pound cat named Sydney. I am also an outdoor enthusiast and spend weekends kayaking,
biking, and golfing or sometimes just bird watching. My slogan is "let the
adventure begin!" which allows me to really enjoy the outdoors! I hope you
will enjoy our time together as we all work and learn through one another.
