Jen
Scully holds an M.Ed. in Adult Learning & Development
from PSU, B.S. in Communication Disorders from UNH, and
webmaster certification from Clark University. She has worked
in Information Technology for about 13 years, with the majority
of her experience in user training & support, technical
writing, and online content development. For the last 8
years she has worked in IT at UNH. Jen teaches face-to-face
and online sessions of Software Tools for GSC.
One of Jen’s primary interests is exploring technology
that enhances learning and personal productivity. So, lately
she’s had a lot of fun playing with speech recognition
software on Windows Vista. She is also learning to create
videos with Adobe Captivate that walk through features of
software programs for users online.
Nine of her graduate courses were in a hybrid or online
format, so Jen has been on the other side of the “digital
fence”. “While taking graduate courses I worked
full time and was co-raising a toddler, so I certainly relate
to challenges many non-traditional learners face,”
she says. She finds the most rewarding part of teaching
adults is helping them learn techniques that make them more
efficient or effective – whether in schoolwork, career,
or home life.
She lives on the seacoast of NH with her husband Kevin and
their young daughter. When not at a computer, she likes
to sing and play piano, knit, take walks, and listen to
a variety of podcasts.
