Portal
Password Protocol - Tips for Setting Your Password
Because the Granite State College portal uses single
sign on (where you will have access to lots of information via one
user account), a strong password is required. A strong password
is one that is difficult for someone else to figure out.
Your GSC portal password must contain
the following:
- a minimum
of 7 characters
- at least
1 uppercase letter
- at least
1 lowercase letter
- at least
1 digit (0-9)
- at least
1 of the following symbols: % * + - _ . : ; , = ? ! / \ [ ] ~

Having
trouble thinking of a password that meets the strong password criteria?
Use
these steps and the password
worksheet to develop a strong password:
- Think
of a sentence that you can remember.
This will be the basis of your strong password. Use a memorable
sentence, such as "My son Aiden is three years old."
- Convert
the sentence to a password. Take the first letter
of each word of the sentence that you've created to create a new,
nonsensical word. Using the example above, you'd get: "msaityo".
- Add
complexity by mixing uppercase and lowercase letters and numbers.
This might yield a password like "MsAi3yo".
- Finally,
substitute some special characters. You can use
symbols that look like letters, combine words (remove spaces)
and other ways to make the password more complex. Using these
tricks, we create a password. You can also us a symbol such as
= for the word "is". "MsA=3y0"
